In Memory of Max

Hello my friends.

Very sad post today, we lost our little Max on Thursday evening having had to make that awful decision that most of us animal lovers have to endure at some point, but we would never have let him suffer and so we had to let him go.  I hope he is running free reunited with Perry his partner in crime for many years and who we still  also still miss every day! Our little Max was one big character, not a bad bone in his body,  and we are so  lucky to have had him in our lives.  I knew when I rescued him from the dogs home that he was special and and he sure was, fondly known as squidge, squidglet,  little bear, baby boy  and Maxwell House he melted my heart every day and the gap he has left at the moment is proving difficult  for us to cope with.

Lots of you will remember a few years ago when he nearly lost his life when he was attacked by 2 dogs and the support then was unbelievable and made such a difference  and so I felt I wanted to share this with you today.........

This is the last picture I took, RIP little bear, love you forever, till we meet again and we will,  I promise xxx

One of my fav pics, catching the sun through the window back in May, so chilled out!

The Rainbow Bridge
Inspired by a Norse legend, a poem by Steve and Diane Bodofsky

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together
.

Forgive me peeps but I am going to sign of for a few days , I will catch up with you all soon.

Lots a hugs
Karenxxx

I am so sorry to hear about Max Karen. I can completely understand how you are feeling even though it was 3 years ago we had to make the awful decision about our Golden Retriever Oscar. The hole will never be filled because it is Max shaped and he was one of a kind but for me it did get slightly smaller over time. Sending ridiculously huge hugs to you and your family xxxx

I only just signed up to follow you this last week and just saw your oh so sad post - believe me I know so well how you feel just now - I just had to let my beautiful cat Barney go today - he was almost 18 years old and was born in the cupboard under my stairs, but it was time for him to go - we both knew he couldn't stay any longer. and what you ( and I did) was the most selfless gift you ever gave him - don't be sad for too long - remember how happy you were to have him hugs Judith x

This is so sad Karen and reading your post had me in tears again! I remember what I was like when we had to say goodbye to Lotty a couple of years ago and I looked and felt like a train wreck for days.

They are our furry kids - an essential part of our families and our lives.

Sending lots of love and hugs to all of you from me and Brent and lots of love and licks from Woodi & Saren, chin up :0)
